Dan brings a wealth of experience to Teton Tutors, with a diverse background that spans over 20 years in teaching, coaching, and tutoring. His academic journey includes a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature with a Writing Concentration from Georgetown University, a period of study abroad at the University of Auckland in New Zealand, and a Master's Degree from Duke University. Dan's teaching career began at Georgetown, where he taught freshman English classes and contributed to the college's Writing Center. He then expanded his teaching experience across various educational settings in Washington, D.C., including public, charter, and private schools.

In 2008, Dan relocated to North Carolina to pursue further studies at Duke University, where he continued to teach for nine years before moving into the public and private school sectors in North Carolina.

Dan's interests extend beyond academia to playing music, exploring the great outdoors, coaching sports teams, and engaging in learning experiences with young people. He teaches a wide array of subjects, including English Language Arts, various writing disciplines, college essay preparation, reading, phonics, spelling, speech and debate, mock trial, as well as subjects like philosophy, psychology, sociology, biology, theatre and performance arts, music (specifically stringed instruments), chess, lower and middle school math, Latin, and Biblical Hebrew. Dan emphasizes the importance of building strong, empowering relationships with his students, positioning himself not just as a teacher, but also as a coach and mentor.
